Daniel Marshall reconstructed Henry Flagler's Tiffany & Co. Humidor.

Daniel Marshall created a humidor in tribute to Henry Flagler, the "Wizard of Florida."

Henry Morrison Flagler was a prominent figure during the industrialization era in the United States of the 19th century. Along with John D. Rockefeller, he founded the Standard Oil Company. As the builder of the Florida East Coast Railway, he laid the foundation for the development of Florida's east coast and the cities of Miami and Palm Beach. Flagler is considered one of the fathers of the economic boom during the Gilded Age. As a gentleman of good taste, he also had a special fondness for yachts and fine cigars.

To honor the story and legend of the industrialist, the Henry Flagler Museum in Palm Beach commissioned the reconstruction of a Tiffany & Co. humidor that is over 100 years old. The original piece was presented to Flagler by the New York Yacht Club as a gift after he offered his yacht Alicia as a committee boat during the 1895 America’s Cup.

"We knew there was only one person for the job," said Museum Director John Blades, pleased with the choice of Daniel Marshall as a partner. Marshall shares with Flagler not only a passion for cigars but also a love for sailing, the sea, and the state of Florida. "It is an honor for me to pay tribute to such an extraordinary personality in American history with this creation. Moreover, it is a logical continuation of my decades-long collaboration with Tiffany & Co. for exquisite projects," said Daniel Marshall. "After seeing the original humidor, I knew I wanted to take on the challenge of this humidor with its unique size and beauty, adorned with waving flags made of enameled 925 sterling silver and a beautiful hand-cut, engraved sterling plaque in the middle of the lid with Flagler's initials. I asked my jeweler to make these for me, as I knew that the exact reproduction of these nautical flags would be an essential part of this exquisite piece." The humidor itself is made of mahogany wood and measures 30.48 cm in length, 17.78 cm in width, and 15.24 cm in height (12 x 7 x 6 inches). All ten pieces of this limited replica edition were made in Daniel Marshall's California studio and are for sale at a price of USD 2,995.00 each.

For the ceremonial launch of this collaboration, the Henry Flagler Museum hosted an event on a yacht during the Palm Beach Boat Show. Over 125 guests, including Henry Flagler's great-great-granddaughter and President of the Museum, Kelly Hopkins Flagler, attended. Afterwards, Daniel Marshall hosted one of his Modern Day Campfire events at Raptis Rare Books. The book boutique in the heart of Palm Beach, which is directly connected to the Churchill Cigar Lounge, encourages the enjoyment of a cigar with a good book or conversation and was the perfect setting for a festive conclusion. In his speech, Marshall referred to the special energy of his Modern Day Campfires, which bring together people from all countries, men and women, young and old. He described his philosophy and emphasized the unifying aspect: "The golden thread that runs through all our veins is the commitment to create a richness of character and generosity of spirit in everything we do."
